RoboX App Setup
The app will request permissions based on available campaigns. Each permission can be granted or denied individually. Denying a permission limits which campaigns are available.
Required for All Campaigns:
Camera
Location (While Using App)
Campaign-Specific Permissions:
Motion & Fitness
All movement campaigns
Microphone
Select campaigns
Depth (LiDAR/ToF)
Spatial mapping campaigns
You can change permissions anytime in iOS Settings > RoboX.
Joining a Campaign
Open the app and tap the Campaigns tab.
Browse available campaigns in your region.
Tap a campaign to view details: what data is collected, recording instructions, duration, and compensation.
If requirements are met, tap Join Campaign.
Grant any additional permissions requested.
Follow the recording instructions and start capturing clips.
During Recording
What to Expect:
Each campaign has specific recording instructions (hold your phone at chest height, film a specific task, etc.)
Clips are typically between 30 seconds and 2 minutes depending on the campaign
Data is anonymized on-device before upload
Uploads happen automatically over Wi-Fi or cellular
Monitoring Progress:
Check the app to see:
Active campaigns and their status
Clips recorded so far
Estimated compensation
Any issues requiring attention
Pausing or Stopping
You can stop recording at any time. Already-submitted clips remain in the system. You choose when and what to record.
Troubleshooting
App Not Recording:
Check that camera and location permissions are enabled
Ensure the campaign is still active
Verify you're in the campaign's geographic region
Restart the app
High Battery Drain:
Recording video uses more battery than normal phone use
Close other camera-heavy apps while recording
Ensure iOS is updated to the latest version
Data Not Uploading:
Check Wi-Fi or cellular connection
Ensure sufficient storage space
Try manual upload from Campaign Details
